Respiration is the only vital sign that can be both voluntarily controlled and autonomously regulated. Unlike heart rate or blood pressure, breathing is continuous — every inhale-exhale cycle forms a complete waveform, and a full night of sleep contains tens of thousands of such waveforms. Yet in existing medical and consumer products, respiratory data remains fragmented. Pulse oximeters only reflect oxygen changes (a lagging result of apnea, 15–30 seconds behind); smartwatches rely on PPG estimation and cannot identify apnea onset or type. PSG is accurate but confined to hospital settings. Respi.AI's core insight: if apnea is the cause and oxygen desaturation is the result, measuring the cause tells you what happened — not just that it happened.
